Itinerary
Day 1 – St. Augustine, FL – Fountain of Youth – Trolley Ghost Tour
Arrive today in the historic town of St. Augustine, FL, the oldest city in the United States. Start with a visit to Ponce De Leon’s Fountain of Youth (c.a.1513.) You will discover it as an Archaeological Park and you will learn of that first encounter in 1513 between the Spanish and the Indians. Your tour guide will also show you the original spring and you will have a chance to drink from just as thousands before you have.
Then check into your hotel for a two-night stay. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant.
Following dinner, enjoy a Trolley Ghost Tour. Discover the secrets of the Tolomato Cemetery and the apparition seen playing on the sacred grounds after dark. Get ready for an up close and personal encounter of the town’s most haunted building, the Old Jail. Listed on the Florida and National Register of Haunted Places, it is the site of countless documented paranormal experiences. Your final stop includes an exclusive nighttime experience inside the Potter’s Wax Museum’s Chamber of Horrors for a unique retelling of the famed pirate Andrew Ranson’s gruesome execution! (D)
Day 2 – Oldest Wooden School House – Colonial Quarter Guided Tour – Castillo de San Marcos – Pirate & Treasure Museum – Pirate Ship Sunset Cruise
After breakfast, visit the Oldest Wooden School House, the unique Minorcan homestead of Juan Genopoly, established in the late 1700’s. Tour the property and become acquainted with the daily life of colonial school children.
Next, step back in time as you explore 500 years of European History in St. Augustine! You and your students will be part of an epic journey into the past learn about Florida’s Spanish roots and challenges to survive. Your group will be met by one of the Colonials, where they will receive an introduction to the museum and interesting history. From there, your fully narrated adventure through colonial history will begin.
Your personal Guide will conduct comprehensive narration every step of the way, with stops for fun, interactive activities like watching a Blacksmithing demonstration and climbing the 35-foot watchtower to look over the city. The St. Augustine Colonial Experience allows you to understand the success of the oldest permanent European Settlement in North America.
Lunch will be included today at a local restaurant located at Colonial Quarter.
The afternoon will include a visit to the Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest handmade national monument in the continental USA. The fort was built by the Spanish in 1672 to protect their interests in the New World.
Then visit the St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum. This museum program will discuss interesting pirate history, including tales from St. Augustine’s infamous run-ins with pirates.
Students will enjoy an awesome journey filled with compelling lore, surprising facts and hands-on learning. Your personal crew member will conduct comprehensive narration every step of the way, with stops for fun, interactive activities like knot tying, hoisting the Jolly Roger flag, and cannon firings.
Dinner is included this evening at the Raintree Restaurant.
Tonight, take a pirate ship ride into paradise on Black Raven’s Tropical Sunset Cruise, inspired by the sights and sounds of the Caribbean islands! Enjoy music, dancing, dolphins, views of historic downtown, the Castillo de San Marcos, the Lighthouse, and much more! (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Lightner Museum – Depart for Home
After breakfast, tour the Lightner Museum, an iconic building at the heart of historic St. Augustine. Occupying the former Hotel Alcazar, a Gilded Age resort hotel commissioned by Standard Oil executive Henry Flagler, the Lightner Museum offers an immersive experience of art, architecture, history, and design.
Enjoy a docent-led tour exploring Henry Flagler’s contributions to Northeast Florida. The tour uses the museum’s historic building, the former Hotel Alcazar, to examine Flagler’s development of tourism and transportation in Florida during the Gilded Age.
Following the tour, depart for home. (B)
