Itinerary
Day 1 – Niagara Falls, NY – Dinner at Hard Rock Cafe – Illuminated Falls
Arrive today in Niagara Falls, NY and enjoy a three-night stay at a local hotel. Dinner is included this evening at the Hard Rock Café. Following dinner, enjoy the Illuminated Falls. Every evening beginning at dusk, Niagara Falls is illuminated in an array of colors. (D)
Day 2 – Observation Tower – Maids of the Mist – Cave of the Winds – Performance Opportunity – Dinner at Top of the Falls
This morning, students will make their way to the top of the Observation Tower where you’ll get a panoramic view of all three waterfalls – American, Bridal Veil and Horseshoe Falls. The Tower’s Observation deck extends out over the Niagara Gorge and is the only place in the park to view both the American and Horseshoe Falls at the same time! Ride the elevator down to board the Maid of the Mist.
Enjoy a ride on the Maid of the Mist, one of the most famous boat rides in the world. It will take you up close to the Falls where you will feel the spray and hear the thunder. For more than 150 years, the Maid of the Mist has taken countless visitors through the foam and spray at the bottom of Niagara Falls. Get ready for a damp, but thrilling ride, on the electric pontoon boats!
Lunch will be included today in Niagara Falls State Park.
This afternoon, it’s time for a thrilling walk on Niagara Falls’ wild side. The spectacular Cave of the Winds Tour takes visitors into a stormy mist zone, where “soaking up the experience” takes on new meaning! The journey begins with an elevator ride 175 feet down into the Niagara Gorge. Geared up in a souvenir rain poncho and specially designed sandals, guests follow wooden walkways along Niagara River to the Hurricane Deck, just a few breathtaking feet from the torrents of Niagara Falls. Here, rushing Bridal Veil Falls creates tropical storm-like conditions. Talk about a rush! Nowhere else on Earth gets you closer to the Falls!
Groups interested in adding a Student Performance have plenty of options in Niagara Falls. Performance venues include Niagara Falls State Park, Old Falls Street, Hard Rock Cafe, Aquarium of Niagara, the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, and Artpark.
Dinner this evening is included at Top of the Falls Restaurant. As the only restaurant overlooking Niagara Falls, Top of the Falls Restaurant offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience. The Top of the Falls menu offers modern American cuisine and classic dishes, and every dish is accompanied by spectacular waterfall views. The venue, located within Niagara Falls State Park, on Goat Island, overlooks Terrapin Point, and features panoramic views of Horseshoe Falls through floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor dining decks. Day 3 – Old Fort Niagara – Niagara Power Vista – Aquarium of Niagara – Dinner at the Rainforest Café
This morning, visit Fort Niagara, also known as Old Fort Niagara, is a fortification originally built by New France to protect its interests in North America, specifically control of access between the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, the easternmost of the Great Lakes. The fort is on the river’s eastern bank at its mouth on Lake Ontario.
The historic grounds include 18th-century fortifications in several original buildings. You’ll also learn what daily life was like for the men and women that lived in service at Fort Niagara through exciting, living history programs given by knowledgeable, historic interpretation staff.
Lunch will be included today at a local restaurant.
This afternoon, visit the Niagara Power Vista and set your inner engineer free. Operate a power plant on the Control Room Simulator or direct power where it’s needed most at the Transmission table. Immerse yourself in a surround-sound, multi-sensory Power-Up 4D theatre experience and ride a thrilling 4-D virtual roller coaster where you get to experience how a drop of water is turned into a unit of energy.
Featuring over 50 interactive exhibits, students receive a hands-on understanding of electricity and hydroelectricity. With resources that merge science and play, the Niagara Power Vista is an ideal destination for an immersive STEM learning experience.
Next, visit Niagara’s other “water wonder,” the Aquarium of Niagara. At the Aquarium, you will have access to two buildings – one that features exotic species from around the world, and another that highlights hyperlocal species that are native to the Great Lakes. You’ll meet playful penguins, rescued seals and sea lions, mesmerizing jellyfish, lots of fish, reptiles and amphibians, insects, and more!
End the day with dinner at the Rainforest Café. The Rainforest Café experience is part adventure, part restaurant! View amazing rainforest foliage with tigers, elephants, crocodiles, and gorillas throughout. (B,L,D)
Day 4 – Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center – Depart for Home
After breakfast, visit the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center. The Center is an experiential museum that reveals authentic stories of Underground Railroad freedom seekers and abolitionists in Niagara Falls. Located inside the former 1863 U.S. Customs House attached to the Niagara Falls Amtrak Station, the ‘One More River to Cross’ permanent exhibition features the rich stories of the Underground Railroad in Niagara Falls, the crucial role played by its location and geography, and the actions of its residents – particularly its African American residents.
Experience stories and hear from individuals, such as Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and John Morrison, who connect the historic Underground Railroad past to present day around the world.
Following your visit, depart for home. (B)
