Itinerary
Day 1 – Indianapolis, IN
Arrive today in Indianapolis, IN, where you enjoy a three-night stay at a local hotel. Dinner is included tonight at a local restaurant. (D)
Day 2 – Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site – Eiteljorg Museum w/lunch – Conner Prairie – Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre
Start the day with a visit to the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site. Tour the Harrison home, collections and grounds as a preserved museum and memorial to the only president of the United States elected from the State of Indiana.
Next, visit The Eiteljorg Museum, which is much more than a traditional art museum with pretty pictures and impressive sculptures. The Eiteljorg tells the stories of the peoples of North America in all their diversity and complexity. It’s a place for historical context, artistic expression, new ideas and individual perspectives. Here, visitors immerse themselves in the diverse cultures of the West and Native America, and sharing these amazing American stories is what they do at the Eiteljorg. Lunch will be included today with your visit to the museum.
The afternoon features Conner Prairie, Indiana’s Living History Museum. Explore Indiana’s natural and cultural heritage through hands-on, immersive and interactive experiences. Step back in time and join a bustling community in 1836 Prairietown where people, animals, objects and daily routines are exactly the same as they were many years ago. Visit the William Conner House, one of Indiana’s first brick homes or the Lenape Indian Camp where you can live like a Lenape Indian as you toss a tomahawk, climb inside a wigwam and try your hand at fur trading.
End the day with a dinner show at the Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. The theatre has entertained audiences for over 40 years. Amphitheater seating gives everyone a terrific seat. Enjoy a full dinner buffet while watching nationally renowned productions. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – NCAA Hall of Champions – Gainbridge Fieldhouse – Indianapolis Zoo w/Program – Speedway Indoor Karting
Start the day with a visit to the NCAA Hall of Champions, which boasts two-levels of interactive exhibits to create a true-to-life understanding of what it takes to make the grade. All 24 NCAA sports are represented and include a novice to historian trivia challenge, current team rankings, video highlights, and artifacts donated from colleges around the nation. Students will also learn about the importance of academics in college sports.
Next, tour the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the NBA Indiana Pacers and WNBA Indiana Fever. You are invited to go behind the scenes to view this state-of-the-art facility and see how it has continued the rich tradition of basketball in the state of Indiana.
Lunch is included today at local restaurant followed by an afternoon at the Indianapolis Zoo. The Indianapolis Zoo offers 64 acres of both indoor and outdoor animal attractions as well as three additional acres of outdoor gardens. The Zoo is home to daily dolphin shows, and the new Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center.
Included with your visit is a Learning Safari led by a Zoo educator. Learning Safaris use the Zoo as a living laboratory, stopping at various animal habitats to observe wildlife and engage in student exploration activities.
This evening, dinner is included at a local restaurant. Then enjoy time at Speedway Indoor Karting. This world-class indoor karting facility offers racing on both European multi-level tracks and banked ovals. Instructors can easily guide all ages and experience levels to success behind the wheel. Day 4 – Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum & Track Tour – Depart for Home
This morning, visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. See some one of the world’s largest, most varied car collections featuring racing, classic, and antiques, including more than 30 race cars that won the Indianapolis 500. Explore the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum with your class and interact with our engaging and educational exhibits, plus enjoy self-guided activities in the Innovation Workshop.
Then visit the Indianapolis Speedway for the “Kiss the Bricks Tour” Where you will take a 30 minute guided tour, a lap around the track with a stop at the world famous Yard of Bricks where winners at the track “Kiss the Bricks” to pay tribute to the fabled speedway. Started by Dale Jarrett in 1996 and still paid tribute to today. The 2.5-mile track was once laid in brick (32 million bricks) when first built in 1909. Asphalt gradually replaced the bricks until October 1961 when the only bricks left is the 36-inch strip of original bricks that was kept intact as the Start/Finish Line and what you see today as the Yard of Bricks.
