Itinerary
Day 1 – Colorado Springs, CO – Dinner at Dave & Buster’s
Arrive today in Colorado Springs, CO where you will enjoy a three-night stay at a local hotel. Tonight, enjoy dinner and games at Dave & Buster’s. (D)
Day 2 – Garden of the Gods w/lunch – Manitou Cliff Dwellings – Cave of the Winds Mountain Park
After breakfast, start the day at Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs’ Awe-Inspiring National Natural Landmark. First stop is the Visitor and Nature Center, the educational heart of the park. Next, visit the Geo-Trekker Theatre and travel through one billion years, in less than 15 minutes. Plunge deep into the hot magma to see dinosaurs, ancient sea monsters, and more. Then, soar high above Garden of the Gods and observe some of the most awe-inspiring aerial footage in the world. This fascinating presentation covers millions of years of local geology. Finally, a trained Colorado naturalist will “step-on” your coach to give a 45 to 60-minute tour of the Garden of the Gods Park. A boxed lunch is included today with your visit.
The afternoon features a visit to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. Located at the foot of Pikes Peak, these mountain dwellings are a rare historical treasure. Preserved under a protective red sandstone overhang, authentic Anasazi cliff dwellings, built more than 700 years ago, await you here.
Students will experience an up close and personal look into the life of the Ancient Ones. Here they will learn about Ancestral Puebloan culture, including how they farmed, hunted and endured. Plus, you can explore the cliff dwellings, participate in hands-on corn grinding with mano and metate stones and browse through two museums featuring cultural displays all overlooking the historic town of Manitou Springs.
The rest of the afternoon is spent at the Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. Take the Discovery Tour and explore the electrically lit portion of Cave of the Winds on a guided walking tour which includes 15 rooms, a half mile of concrete walkways, and 196 stairs (not all at once!). On this with an expert guide, you will learn about the history and geology of the caves and see some of its most beautiful formations. Your admission will also access to each of the included attractions: the Wind Walker Challenge Course, Bat-A-Pult Zip Line, Cliff Hanger Climbing Wall, and Geronimo’s Leap.
Dinner will be included at a local restaurant this evening. (B,L,D)
Day 3 – Royal Gorge Bridge & Park – Royal Gorge Route Railroad – Flying W Ranch Chuckwagon Dinner
After breakfast this morning, head to nearby Canon City, CO to Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, a must-see destination. The Royal Gorge is often called the Grand Canyon of the Arkansas River. The Royal Gorge Bridge is one of the world’s tallest suspension bridges, a sight so incredible that a park for tourists has grown around it. Your admission ticket will allow you to ride the aerial tram and journey into the past and explore the roots of the Bridge and Gorge. A mini documentary will tell you all about the awe-inspiring history, fun facts, drama and scenery surrounding the Park. You will also have time to walk across the bridge, browse souvenirs and take in the breathtaking views of the gorge below.
A meal voucher is provided today for lunch at any of the Royal Gorge Park’s restaurants.
Next, ride the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. See Colorado from a different perspective and experience the beauty of the Royal Gorge on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Inheriting a storied history that dates to 1879, this is Colorado’s oldest and most famous streamliner. The Royal Gorge Route Railroad runs year-round and is the best way to experience stunning scenery and history of the region – all while enjoying a 24-mile round-trip journey in comfort and style.
End the day with the Flying W Ranch Chuckwagon Dinner. You’ll enjoy the picturesque setting, authentic Western Town and a tasty Chuckwagon Supper. Following dinner, top off the evening with an outstanding Western Stage Show underneath a star filled Colorado Sky. (B,L,D)
Day 4 – Olympic & Paralympic Training Center – Depart for Home
After breakfast, make one final stop at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center. Here you will see a narrative film, then tour the training facilities, visit the Olympic Hall of Fame and finally the Olympic Spirit Store.
