Day 2 – Guided City Tour w/lunch – Savannah History Museum Student Program & Guided Tour – Leopold’s Ice Cream – The Pirates’ House Dinner – Ghost Town Trolley Tour
Today begins with narrated sightseeing. Moss-draped and molasses-sweet Savannah is like Charleston and other Southern port towns, forever linked to their past. You will learn about this city’s history on tour this morning. But no trip to Savannah is complete without a trip down world-famous River Street. Lined with shops and restaurants on one side and bordered by the Savannah River on the other.
Lunch will be included today at a local restaurant.
This afternoon, enjoy a student program and guided tour at the Savannah History Museum. Students will learn about the history of Savannah spanning from the Native Americans to Savannah’s role in the American Revolution and technological developments, such as the cotton gin and railroads during the Industrial Revolution, the impact of the Civil War on Savannah, and finally Savannah’s 20th century history.
This program will help students

- Learn about Savannah’s role in the events of the American Revolution in Georgia
- Learn about the impact of technology (i.e. cotton gin and railroads) on the development of Savannah and Georgia

Dinner tonight is at the Pirate House. Since 1753, The Pirate’s House has been welcoming visitors to Savannah with a bounty of delicious food and drink and rousing good times. Situated a scant block from the Savannah River, The Pirate’s House first opened as an inn for seafarers and fast became a rendezvous for bloodthirsty pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas. Here seamen drank their grog and discoursed, sailor fashion, on their exotic high seas’ adventures from Singapore to Bombay and from London to Port Said.
Following dinner, enjoy an evening Ghost Town Trolley Tour. Journey through time as you visit Colonial Park Cemetery, the oldest existing cemetery in Savannah, where your host will share the tales of the residents buried within. From there you will walk through two of Savannah’s most haunted squares – Wright and Chippewa – and learn of the spirits of iconic locations such as the Savannah Theater. (B,L,D)
